Biography: Why Korea?
안녕하세요, 만서 반가워요! Greetings from Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, South Korea! My name is Alexus, and I am delighted to share my journey with you as a study abroad student majoring in English Literature and Film at Georgia State University. This semester, I am here in Yeosu to delve into the Korean language, culture, and cinema for my thesis project, which focuses on Korean films produced after the Japanese colonial occupation. My goal is to explore how cinema has been a medium for political expression and nationhood.
Seeing the world through a different lens: Cultural Perspectives
Growing up in Atlanta, a city buzzing with film productions, I was naturally drawn to the dynamic perspectives cinema can offer. This passion has fueled my desire to explore diverse cultures and languages, which has been magnificently supported through studying abroad. Throughout my academic adventures in four different countries, I've gained a profound appreciation for storytelling. These global experiences have broadened my worldview and shown me that pursuing international education is a feasible dream, made even more accessible through generous scholarship opportunities.
