Madrid is a very international city, so I've learned a lot about different cultures besides the Spanish culture. I hear many different languages every day, which is really cool to be surrounded by. I mainly hear a lot of French because France is so close to Spain. I have also met many people from Britain, who are all very nice and welcoming to me. It has also been interesting to see how some African traditions have shaped Spain and its culture. Morrocco is right below the South of Spain and is acutally very easy to get to by plane. In early Spanish history, the Moors took control over a lot of Spain. The Moors were from northern Africa. Today, you can see the influence of the Moors in how the buildings are designed in Spain, as many of these look a lot like the buildings in Morrocco. Even now, there are many different African influences that the Moors left in Spain so long ago, not least of all African restaurants!

I also really admire the people of Spain because of their patriotism for their country. Since their history goes back so many years, the Spanish people are all united under the same events that shaped their country. To reflect this fact, although Madrid is a host city for many international people, in most of Spain, people are nationally Spanish.
