Though I have loved my time here thus far in Bogotá, I am feeling ready to say chao, or farewell, at least for a bit! My university courses are all finished, the weather has certainly been shooing me out, and the twinkling holiday decorations seem to be winking at me to leave. My traveler senses are telling me its time to take off, but not after some serious reflection.

Last week, my three English classes all finished their classes with a very difficult final exam. For two hours, my students sat at computers reading, listening, and writing in English. Remember the NYSESLAT? It was kind of like that! There was even a speaking section. The main difference: each section was even harder.

I tried to reassure my students that the would do fine on their final, and even if they didn't, their grades would help them pass, but that didn't convince them. Some of them left very upset, worried that they had failed the final exam. Others, were quite sure they had persevered, or overcome, the final exam! I was impressed by their confidence, and can only hope that they are right.

It was sad saying goodbye to my students. In fact, I think I only just learned all 100 of their names!
