Hi everyone!
This week I traveled to another part of the Pearl River Delta. This delta region is considered the most populated place on earth. It has around 50 million people split between a few different cities, the biggest of which are Guangzhou (pronounced "Gwahng Joe"), Shenzhen ("Shen Jen") and Hong Kong. Hong Kong was ruled by the British for over a hundred years until it was eventually handed back over to China in 1997.
Although the Chinese government maintains strict control over the people, the citizens of Hong Kong have been given the freedom to make more decisions for themselves. Because of that and its history as a major center for business, Hong Kong is one of the most vibrant, booming cities in the world. There are so many people here, and the rents are so expensive that it is not unheard of for multiple families to share a one-room apartment.
You might not think so at first, but it is also possible to find natural beauty tucked within this bustling metropolis. One of these places is called the Po Lin Monastery.
