A Day in the Life of a Kid in Madrid!

I have seen a lot of older kids in high school walk to school or take public transportation alone.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Spain has beautiful weather, so a lot of schools are outside. Students in Spain eat outside on the patio.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At schools in Spain, kids speak Spanish but usually learn other languages, especially English. Valle attends a bilingual school where she is learning to be fluent in English. I help tutor her to go over what she learns in school. In Spanish, hello is hola.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Some common kids' names at Valle's school are Emma, Abril, Lara, Lucía, Eric, Marina and Laura. Do you know anyone with one of those names?

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

In school, Spanish kids study language, history, mathematics, science and art. Valle's favorite subject is art.

What is your homework like?:

As kids get older, their homework starts to get more difficult. Valle has a lot of homework that takes a long time.
