Bom Dia from Belo Horizonte

I was lucky because my older sister lived in Virginia not too far away. One summer, I even lived with her. Her apartment was on top of a music store which I thought was really cool! I lived in Washington, DC for 12 years before coming to Brazil. I don't know if you have ever heard about Brazil. It is in South America. If you look at a world map and put your finger on the United States, you can look for Texas, then keep going down to Mexico and all the way down to South America. Brazil is the biggest country in South America. It is on the Eastern side of the continent--that's the right side on the map.

Today, I live with my husband, Daniel, my daughter Riley who is eight years old, my son Sebastian who is six months old and our two cats Peep and Panda. Daniel was born in Brazil and lived here for most of his life. That is great for us because while we are in Brazil, we are living with his mom, dad, and aunt. It is normal for grandparents, parents, kids and grandkids to all live together here. I feel lucky to be able to live with our family.

We moved to Brazil so that I could do research here. For my research I am talking to judges, lawyers, and police people to learn about how they help make sure workers are treated fairly. It is important that everyone is able to work in a job that is safe. While we are at home during the Covid 19 lockdown, I am talking to people using video chat. Have you been using video chat to talk to your friends or family while you are at home? It is pretty amazing that we can see and talk to anyone no matter how far away they are.

I am excited that Reach the World will let me share my journey with you. I look forward to keeping you updated for the next few weeks.
