Hello! My name is Allison. I’m 25 years old and I am from Lexington, Kentucky. I am currently living in a city called Bangalore, which is in southern India, to conduct research. How did I end up in India? Well, I’m here because India is the perfect place to combine my love for travel with my love of studying animals!
Growing up, I always loved animals and wanted to travel to and learn about as many places around the world as possible. My first taste for travel came in high school when I traveled around Europe performing band concerts with an organization called Kentucky Ambassadors of Music. Though the trip was only 16 days, I had an amazing time experiencing other cultures and sharing my own culture, in turn, through the music I played.
My love for animals and travel continued into my college career. I studied Agricultural Biotechnology at the University of Kentucky. In college, I learned more about animals, their behavior, and how they interact with the world around them. In addition, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, a country on the eastern coast of Africa. Everything was different in Tanzania – the food, the language, and of course the animals! I had so much fun living with a host family and attending the nearby University of Dar es Salaam. I intimately experienced Tanzanian culture.
