The main language spoken here is Dutch, which is a tricky language to learn because of the guttural ‘g’ sound. However, majority of the population also speak English because they learn it in school at a young age.
The main money exchanged is the euro. The Netherlands uses the common currency of the European Union (a political and economic union composed of mostly countries in Europe). This makes it easier for cross-border trading and travel.
The cost of a bottle of water is dependent on where you buy the water! Bottles are cheapest from grocery stores, such as Albert Heijn, and cost about 1.5 to 2 euros ($1.7- $2.35). Interestingly, unlike in the United States, it is difficult to get free tap water at cafes and restaurants.
I recently had a McKroket from McDonalds. While McDonalds is all over the globe, the McKroket is a quick and tasty treat you can only get here in the Netherlands! It is a deep fried patty of meat and cheese topped with a mustard sauce and is served on a bun… yum!
