I am on a mission to discover the most popular Dutch artists and bands.
This Friday, I accompanied 100 students from my secondary school on a field trip in Almere. The best part was that, since there are no school buses for transportation, all of the students and teachers rode bikes!
I bought a museumkaart (museum card), which allows me to get into many museums for free! I try to visit at least one museum a week where I read the informational signs in Dutch and English. I went to a historical museum in Giethoorn and a modern art museum (the Stedelijk Museum) in Amsterdam.
Whenever you move to a new city, it’s important to get involved and meet new people in the area. I went to a volleyball meetup about 10 minutes away by bike and played with people from the Netherlands, Italy, Poland and more!
I plan to get more involved in my community so on Thursday I visited a local animal shelter called the Dierenopvang. I stayed for the volunteer orientation where I met a girl from Indonesia and a guy from Scotland. The whole orientation and tour was in Dutch so I had to listen carefully!
