Hello, my name is Shelby and I am writing from Belo Horizonte, the capital city of a state called Minas Gerais in Brazil. Belo Horizonte means beautiful horizon, or beautiful view, and fortunately for me, this city lives up to its name! I attached a picture where you can see a view of the whole city.
Today I am working from home. We are not allowed to leave the house to go to work right now because of coronavirus. You may also be staying home from school for the same reason. Wherever you are, I hope I can share an exciting journey with you and help you feel like you are traveling in Brazil with me even if you are at home in your pajamas.
Have you ever traveled anywhere before? I did not travel outside of the United States until after I finished high school, but I did get the chance to travel within the United States. I lived in Chesapeake, Virginia until I was nine and then I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. I lived with my mom most of the time but I also got to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to see my Dad. I grew up with a lot of brothers and sisters. In my mom's family I had three brothers and two sisters, and in my dad's family I had another brother and sister.
After I finished high school, I moved to Washington, D.C.
