Recognizing different perspectives can be a difficult but extremely rewarding process. One way to obtain a different perspective on life is to immerse yourself in a culture other than your own. This is one reason that I love traveling so much. It is not only very enjoyable and very fun, but you also leave a different country with a new way to view the world that helps you become a better global citizen. You appreciate your own roots and culture you grew up in while also recognizing, experiencing and learning from a new culture.
Learning about other cultures doesn’t just have to be accomplished by traveling halfway around the world. The amazing thing about the U.S. is that there are thousands and thousands of different cultures that can be found and experienced in our own backyard! You can try other cultures' foods, experience their unique activities or just sit down and have an interesting discussion with someone from that culture. All of these are ways to broaden your perspective on life and grow as a person.
Before coming here, I probably could not point Slovenia out on a map. However, now that I am about halfway through my time here, I have grown tremendously as a person, mostly because I am experiencing life and working in a different culture from my own back home.
