While an orquesta wouldn't suit a late night party, they will often play during the day on holidays or town celebrations. The dance is deeply ingrained in many peoples' bodies and young and old people will dance it enthusiastically.
While these are just the main bands that will play at celebrations, Perú has many more dances and musical traditions. In a time where certain traditions are being lost, music and dance are arts that Peruvians are especially deliberate about protecting and preserving. It's very interesting to see folk music integrated in daily life, with kids practicing their dances in local parks and huaynos still being celebrated and danced to in public celebrations.
