My Favorite French Pastries!

Crêpes are thin pancakes, usually covered in toppings. They can be sweet or savory!

The last thing I'll share here is a regional treat I got to try when visiting the south of France, called a Gibassier. It's a giant shortbread cookie shaped like a leaf, flavored with orange zest and orange blossom water.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Croissants are soft and flaky at the same time. Usually they are plain, but sometimes they have fillings in them! I love mine dipped in a warm cup of coffee. It's the perfect way to start the morning!

Baguettes are crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and perfect for tearing and sharing! Next time you have a picnic with friends and family, try bringing along a baguette to share with your loved ones.

Quiche is one of my favorite comfort foods! I love to have it for breakfast or lunch on a cold day.

One of the best ways to enjoy a casual dinner in France is to get crêpes with a friend. You can start with a savory crêpe, which is called a 'galette', and then share a sweet one for dessert!

I loved getting the opportunity to try a gibassier, or a special orange-flavored French pastry! Since they are rare outside of the Provence region of France, it felt very special to try a local treat that's hard to find anywhere else in the world.

How is the food prepared?:

Croissants are made with lots of delicious French butter. Bakers create many alternating layers of dough and butter before shaping and baking their croissants. It can take up to two days to make the perfect croissant!

The baguette has a very traditional recipe that is actually protected by law in France!
