As the sign next to the bridge explains, the arches represent the Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology. The island itself is filled with natural beauty, including many plants called screwpines.
One of my final stops before I reached Pingtung again was the Tree of Life in Tainan. Tainan is on the Southwestern Coast of Taiwan, and is home to famous salt fields. The Tree of Life is not a real tree, but rather a famous art installation of a tree, and it actually stands in the middle of one of Tainan’s salt fields. I came upon the Tree of Life at sunset, which was really beautiful.
