So, you all know I am very far from home. You might think that it is scary going to a new place without knowing anyone, but I think it is exciting and let me tell you why. I am an exchange student, which means I am going to take classes at a different college instead of the college I usually go to. Since I am an exchange student, I am part of a big program where many other people are doing the same thing as me, so it is easy to make friends. All of the other people in my program are also coming all the way to Australia from many different places, like different states in the U.S. and different countries in Europe. Like me, they all want to make new friends. This has made making friends easy.
Another way that I have made friends was to just go to class. All of the Australian students here are excited to hear what life is like in the U.S., so it is easy to make friends with them, too! Think about your class. This year, you are now in 1st grade, so there are some new people in your class that were not in your kindergarden class. Now, you all are friends and it is the same for me. I did not know all of the students, but that is what is so exciting, I was able to make many new friends after meeting so many new faces.
