I traveled about 72 miles this week, which is approximately 116 kilometers. Most of this travel came from daily commuting and moving around the city.
So far on this journey, I have traveled about 23,075 miles, or approximately 37,136 kilometers. These numbers not only include my travel distances in Germany, but also incorporate my flight across the Atlantic and my brief trips to other countries in Europe.
I primarily used public transportation, relying on the U-Bahn and buses each day, along with walking. Munich’s transit system makes it easy to move through the city efficiently, independently and safely.
The most interesting place I visited this week was the Viktualienmarkt. Walking through the market made it clear to me how much everyday life here revolves around fresh, local food and seasonal rhythms. It felt less like a tourist destination and more like a shared neighborhood space where people stop briefly, exchange a few words, get something delicious for their families and move on with their day.
