My home is an open one-floor house with two bedrooms, a kitchen and a common family area. The kitchen and family room are connected as a single unit. There is an outdoor Samoan kitchen used for cooking special meals in the umu (underground Samoan oven) and an open fale (traditional Samoan house without walls) in the back of the main house.
I usually help set the table or tidy up the house. Sometimes I also help sweep, feed the pigs or help with outdoor work like collecting fallen palm leaves or twigs.
My mother stays at home to take care of me and my siblings, while my father works in New Zealand picking apples in an orchard. He usually comes home about twice a year if he is able to.
My local school begins at 9:00 AM, and I arrive home by 2:00 PM.
I either walk the 20 minutes to school or I take the bus for one Samoan tala (dollar) if I make it in time!
I either eat lunch at home with my family after we say a prayer or I buy a small snack like pork buns or chips at my school.
