While driving around, I was not used to driving on the left side of the road so every once in a while, I thought that we were going to run into another car! I was also not used to the steering wheel being on the right side of the car, so I always got into a car on the wrong side! I did slowly get used to having to walk everywhere in South Africa, and it ended up being a really nice way to get some fresh air while traveling.
I do think that walking to get around is connected to the culture because cars are extremely expensive in this country and so is gas. I also think that's why a lot of people have motorcycles or scooters to get around. Motorcycles and scooters are cheaper than a car and a faster mode of transportation than walking.
