Hi from the other side of the world! My name is Anna. I am a very curious person, and I love learning about new things. This curiosity drew me to traveling and to spend this school year in Ekaterinburg, Russia! Did you know that Russia is the biggest country in the world by size?
I grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut, and spent the last five years in college in Cleveland, Ohio. When I was your age, I studied Spanish in school and thought that it was really fun. Since then, I’ve studied Chinese, German and Russian too. Languages are so interesting to learn because it allows you to discover new things about the people who speak them! My favorite thing about studying languages is traveling to the countries where they speak them.
I traveled to a city in Russia called Kirov when I was 17. I had never been there before and didn’t know any Russian yet, so I was a bit worried. However, the family that I lived with in Russia made me feel very welcome. I realized that people in Russia aren’t very different from people in the United States. I wanted to be able to talk with all the people that I met, so I promised myself that I would keep learning Russian!
In high school, I was also on a robotics team.
