Hi, everybody!
I'm really excited to be in Japan for a year. Sharing even a little bit of my time here with you all is a real treat for me. When I found that my college offered an exchange program in Tokyo, Japan I jumped at the opportunity. I've spent the past three years of my college career learning Japanese, and I really wanted to put into practice what I've learned so far and to continue to learn more Japanese in Japan.
This year I will be a senior in college, majoring in Business Economics and minoring in Japanese. Economics is the study of how money moves through a country and between people and businesses. Business Economics focuses on how businesses interact with each other both locally and internationally. I hope to become an international business consultant, talking companies through how to expand into Japan from the U.S., or into the U.S. from Japan. To that end I want to learn about Japanese culture and history in order to better enable the cross-cultural exchange of ideas.
I'm looking forward to doing some self-discovery while in Japan, as I am half Japanese and largely grew up in America. Although I don't exactly feel lost about who I am, I would like to know myself better. I am half Japanese on my mom's side, and I have grandparents in Japan that I don't often get to visit.
