Describing my life in one Reach the World Journal may be next to impossible, but it is a challege I accept!
I grew up in Saint Louis, Missouri. My life was very similar to the lives of other suburban kids. My favorite subjects in school were always foreign language, geography, and history. I was also a swimmer when I was very young. One of my fovorite memories growing up was spending time at my grandparents' farm. Both of my parents are very open-minded, and instilled a sense of curiosity in me.
In middle school, I began to explore the world. I got the opportunity to visit the United Kingdom and Ireland on a school trip. I had been to Mexico and the Dominican Republic before, but I stayed at resorts and didn't really get to know the cultures of those places. On my trip to the United Kingdom and Ireland, I fell in love with everything about traveling. It was life-changing to see new cultures, try new foods, see historical monuments in person, and learn about how others around the world live their lives. This trip inspired me to go on another school trip the next summer to Costa Rica, and then two summers later to Italy.
During my sophomore year of high school, I leanred about study abroad. I learned that I could do it in high school. I knew right away it was just for me. However, study abroad can be expensive, especially high school programs.
