Because of the "The Community", building a safe, comfortable, and supporting environment was not difficult for our group of study abroad students. Because we had come to China, a unique country very different to our home countries, our common struggles allowed my fellow classmates and me to bond instantly. Through struggling with language barries, homesickness, culture shocks, and so much more, we became a community that still holds together to this day. As a matter of fact, other study abroad students who were not a part of USAC (the company with which we studied abroad) became members of our community, too. I made friends from Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Korea this way.
