The ancient Chinese emperors used to worship the Moon for the peak harvest season, which is around the end of September to early October. They believed that the Moon had provided the plentiful harvest of fruits, vegetables and other natural resources. As a result, this became known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Moon Festival or the Moon Cake Festival. It is a season of giving, family and cherishing the plentiful harvests of the season.
Due to the nature of the harvest season in the extremely fertile lands of Eastern Asia, the Moon Festival is directly related to the natural setting where it takes place. The Moon Festival is always celebrated during the mid-autumn harvest season.
