Meet My Friend Neil!

Sometimes I help cook or sweep in the evenings after my homework. If my brothers are making lumpia I will help them chop the vegetables, and I will help by eating the food to test it!

What jobs do your parents have?:

My tatay (father) works as a security guard at a company, he carries a flashlight and a walkie talkie. He also has a job as a locksmith. My nanay helps stock and sell the goods at our sari sari store.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

In the morning, school starts at 7:30 am. At 11:00 am after morning class, I go back home to eat lunch with my nanay. Then I go back to school at 1:00 pm, and I leave school at 4:00 pm.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

To get to school, I ride on the back of my tatay's motorcycle. When I come home from school, sometimes I walk with my friends, and sometimes, if it's raining or I'm feeling lazy, I'll share a tricycle.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Usually, I go back home to eat lunch with my nanay. My favorite food we eat is chicken inasal, which is barbecue chicken. Sometimes though, if I have money, I will stay at school and eat snacks from the carinderia, a food stand that sells trays of traditional Filipino home-cooked meals.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school I speak in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines.
