A Little About Me and My Work in Costa Rica!

Most of the ranchers here, whom we call "ganaderos", herd dairy cows. Milk pastuerization and cheese making are the cornerstones of the Tronadoran economy! Tronadora is dominated by sprawling pastures dotted with cows, sheep and horses.

I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. If you're familiar with the swamp, Mardi Gras, or jazz music, New Orleans is the city where it all goes down. Because I grew up in a dense, urban setting, moving to the countryside presented a unique challenge. Unlike New Orleans, Tronadora is very rural, and everyone knows everyone here. Suffice it to say, that word spreads fast. Luckily, I live here with a host family. I owe a lot to my host mom, Doña Elsie, for showing me around town and introducing me to people in the community. Since I'm not a native Spanish speaker, introducing myself was initially quite the challenge, but my Spanish skills have improved a lot, and now I feel confident in just about any conversation thrown my way.

I'm looking forward to sharing more about my time here in Costa Rica with all of y'all (that's New Orleans lingo). What sorts of things interest you about life abroad? Do you think you would ever want to work, travel or live in another country? If so, where would you want to go?

We'll be in touch!
