I am very thankful that I am housed in Māori Studies at Waipapa Taumata Rau [University of Auckland]. To learn more about the translation and ceremony of this gifted new name in 2021 by the people of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei in an official gifting ceremony here: https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/about-us/about-the-university/waipapa-taum...

The University of Auckland is ranked New Zealand's number one University in the country and is ranked 87 globally. I am here as a Visiting Student Researcher (VSR) and as mentioned I am under the supervision of two faculty in Māori Studies, Dr. Tiopira McDowell and Dr. Daniel Hikuroa. Unlike most of my Fulbright 2022 cohort, I am not taking courses for a degree program. I am observing (auditing) classes that are pertinent to my research, however, I am not taking these for a letter grade. I am so grateful I have been granted access to participate and observe in classrooms. It has been great networking and meeting other Ph.D. students, faculty, and students on campus.
