In addition, the health assessments that were completed took around one minute per passenger, far less than would be needed to accurately assess mental and physical fitness. As this is an ongoing story, there isn’t yet a resolution as to what will happen to the hundreds of people who remain on the boats offshore.
For my part, I will continue to closely follow this story and advocate in whatever way I can for solutions rooted in compassion for those who arrive on foreign shores.
