So if my Lao coworkers, neighbors or students asked me to go to dinner with them or meet their families, I said yes! If they asked me to try new foods, I said yes - even if the food didn't look very good! Once I started to feel comfortable, I started asking my Lao coworkers to do things with me like play soccer, cook food and go to friends' houses. They were so nice and really wanted to help me and make me feel welcome in their city. Moving to a new place is a really scary thing, but no one wants you to feel alone. You just have to be willing to try new things. Now, I love living in Luang Prabang, and it feels like it has actually become my home!
