Interview with Birgit

What do you do for work?:

"I work as a secretary at the city municipal building at Radolfzell [about 9 kilometers away]. There I am organizing meetings for the city officials and answering the phone calls and emails from the citizens. We plan many city-wide events; there are about three each month. Of course, this time of the year is so busy with Fasnacht."  [This is a long winter festival I will explain in one of the following field notes.]

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

"It is important to remember that people need to care for each other in their communities, and that every nation is a giant community of people with a common set of needs and values. It is important that students... as a new generation...as the future leaders of one of the mightiest nations in the world... remember that they are also forming a nation of people who need to care for each other. This, I think, is very important not just in the U.S. but in a world with Internet and global changes."
