After living in Ecuador for two weeks, I have come across many different perspectives. Whether that means different religions, culture, tradition, or langauge differences, or even types of food and their names, I continue to learn more and more! Both Dominican and Ecuadorian people are Latinos and Latinas, so they share a  langauge and background in common. However, it is important to consider that there are many cultural differences between these countries.

When it comes to foods, I do find myself calling certain foods by the name that I will normally call them in my Dominican household. I was having rice and stewed chicken, which for me is pollo guisado in Spanish. However, in Ecuador, they call it seco de pollo, which translates to "dry chicken" in English! At first, I could not understand why it was called "dry chicken," since stewed chicken is anything but dry! However, I have come to understand that the names of foods usually differs from what I am used to!  Another example is fried plantains. Plantains are a fruit similar to a banana. In Spanish, I know them as platano frito. However, Ecuadorians call them patacones, which means something totally different in my culture!
