Steven is an AUV Solutions Architect. That means people across the company–from engineers to executives–come to him with problems, and he designs clever ways to fix them. Sometimes that means coding, sometimes building tools, and sometimes taking equipment apart to understand it better. He loved electronics and computers in school, but didn’t realise how many different jobs existed beyond the traditional ones he heard about, like doctors or firefighters. Then one day, someone told him about offshore robotics–a job he’d never even imagined. He decided to give it a try, and he’s never looked back. Part of Steven’s job involves taking apart extremely expensive underwater robots to figure out how to improve them–a bit like being told you can take a supercar apart to see how it works. His advice to you is to never stop asking "Why?" Be curious, learn as much as you can, and don’t be afraid to explore careers you’ve never heard of.
