O Museu do Futebol (The Soccer Museum)

After a heartbreaking loss known as the Maracanaço in the 1950 World Cup against Uruguay, the country felt a major trauma, and the team needed a change. So they held a contest to design a new uniform, and the winning colors were yellow with green trim and blue shorts, just like the colors of the Brazilian flag!

I put some of my Portuguese to practice and asked someone at the museum how they felt about the upcoming World Cup. They said that they are incredibly excited to see Brazil play. It always feels like the country goes into a pause when the game is up. Families come together, and people go out to bars and restaurants just to watch the game. Are you excited for the World Cup?

If you ever go to São Paulo, you have to visit O Museu do Futebol. It doesn’t matter if you’re a superfan or if you’ve never kicked a ball. It’s a place full of joy, history, and the sound of a million people celebrating together. I left feeling so happy and ready to go outside and play.
