Hej and godt forår (happy spring) from Copenhagen! Since adjusting to my new home away from home, I never want to leave. I have explored more than five countries so far, but during the week, Copenhagen is the most comforting place on Earth. While I miss some places in U.S. (Raisin’ Canes and Chili’s are calling my name), I have adapted to Danish culture inside and outside of the classroom.

At school, I've been learning about culture in some unexpected ways. One of my classes, Guilty Pleasures of Pop Culture, explores what counts as pop culture and how universal or region-specific it can be. For example, our class looked at political propaganda and compared how different places communicate messages to the public. This connected to real life, too- last month, during local and regional elections, my criminology class researched candidates’ backgrounds, criminal historyand their proposed policies.

Outside of class, daily life in Copenhagen has been just as interesting.
