First and foremost I am a student, but I was also constantly traveling and exploring the places around me. Being busy all the time definitely took a toll on my health. Unfortunately, I think I have been sick in some way at least a third of my time here. Nontheless, I think the traveling was worth it.
Studying abroad has also shown me that the world is truly a diverse place. My own lived experiences are simply one combination out of infinite possibilities. I cannot help but think about how people's lives can be very different depending on the place from which they come. In my travels, I often looked at local people and pondered what their daily lives might be like. When I could, I also tried to step into locals' shoes by learning and practicing their culture. For example, I recently got to attend a cooking class in which I made traditional Spanish foods, such as paella, crema catalana (a dessert), tomato bread and romesco sauce.
Perhaps you are also looking at my life, wondering if and when you will be in college or outside of the country. I was in your shoes not too long ago, and as cliché as it may sound, I believe in you! It is never too late or too early to start thinking about possibilities for the future. The internet is your oyster, and you can research colleges you want to attend and places you want to see. Figure out ways to make it happen, because it is probably very possible! You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Take that first step.
If you want to stay in touch, my college email is [email protected], and you can email me with any questions! Thank you all for following along on my journey with your open minds and curiosity.
