I discovered some great Romanian artists this week, my favorite of which is currently Mǎdǎlina Pavǎl. She tells Romanian folk stories through modern song and I find her music very catchy.
The most fun activity this week was probably going to the flea markets in Cluj. They were very loud and chaotic as different venders fought for your attention, but there was a massive variety of goods from medieval Germanic traditional clothing to loose broken cell phones scattered on the floor to be stripped for parts.
I continued reading Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses, as well as articles for my research on Romanian national identity and the role of the Orthodox Church.
I didn't play any games except cards with friends!
This week I gave a presentation at the Cluj American Corner, which is like a cultural embassy for the United States. I screened an American satire film called Wag the Dog for 12th-grade students. It was a fun time, and I recommend the movie if you're interested in comedy and American politics!
