What the Everglades Leaves with Me

Because of that, I care deeply about helping other people feel connected to the natural world, too.

I know what it feels like to grow up far from wild places, and how powerful it is to finally experience them. That's why I value exploration. It’s not just travel—it’s about looking closely, asking questions, and imagining yourself in places you didn’t think were for you.

The Everglades has taught me many things, but the biggest is that connection matters. Everything here is connected: water, land, plants, animals, and people. Understanding this makes conservation more personal. We begin to see that protecting nature is not separate from our own lives; it is tied to our future.

That is why storytelling matters to me. A photograph can help someone care. A story can help someone feel connected. And sometimes that connection is where change begins. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope something from these weeks stays with you—a new fact, question, sense of wonder, or simply a reminder that more life, beauty, and connection surround us than we often realize.

If I could leave you with one thing, it would be this: keep paying attention. Look closely. Stay curious. Let the world surprise you. Attention opens unexpected paths. Let it guide you.
