I filmed many of our experiences of traveling together throughout Croatia, and worked with the national Croatian TV station to edit the film for two weeks in September. People seemed to really like the movie! It was nice seeing the project that I worked hard on being shown on the big screen. Afterwards, I went on stage for a Q&A, or questions and answers. I was pretty nervous, but I’m proud of myself for doing it! Two of my best friends, Alison and Vanessa, both live in Chicago now. They came to the movie screening which meant a lot to me. It’s so great to have support from friends and family. I’m so glad the conference was in Chicago and that I got to see them!
During the conference, there were presentations about the restaurant and tourism industries, as well as medicine, media, and more. I like going to these educational programs because I get to learn about subjects I don’t always consider reading about, but they’re all so interesting! I met many impressive people during the conference, including the former Prime Minister of Croatia. It was a nice feeling knowing that we all relate to each other in some way by being Croatian. What is a community you are a part of?
After three busy days of the conference and one day visiting Vanessa in her neighborhood, Wicker Park, my mom and I are continuing our travels to the next conference destination… Alicante, Spain! Stay tuned…
