Dumela (Hello)! My name is Isis and I will be sharing my experience with you all from Gabarone, Botswana. You all may have never heard of Gaborone, Botswana, but I am here to tell you all about the beautiful African country.

First, Gaborone is pronounced HA-BA-RRONI. Can you try to pronounce it? It is the capital of the country Botswana, located in the continent Africa. You can find Gaborone, Botswana on the border of South Africa. The official language of this country is English, however, 98% of the population speaks Setswana, which is a bantu language. Africa, in general, is a very hot place, but it is currently winter here so it gets very cold in the mornings and nights. Like the U.S. during the winter, the days are much shorter during this season. Therefore, it gets dark early, typically around 5:00 pm. I am living in a dorm with other locals. I am studying at the University of Botswana. I am studying community public health for eight weeks.

A little about me: I am 21 years old. My family moved around because they are in the military, but I call Nashville, Tennessee my home. I grew up in many cities across the U.S. and enjoyed site seeing. After finishing high school in Nashville, I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where I attend The University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
