While in Rome with my mom, my favorite historical site we visited was the Colosseum. The Colosseum is almost 2,000 years old and the Romans actually built it in only 8 years, which is incredible because it is HUGE. It was basically a huge stadium where people went to watch entertainment, kind of like how we go to watch sports games or concerts — except their entertainment was very different from ours today.
