First, let me introduce myself. I was born in El Paso, Texas, a small city that acts as the border between the United States and Mexico. My family is from Mexico, so my first language is Spanish with a Mexican touch. I am a college student at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. I am studying psychology and Spanish with the hopes of one day becoming a therapist. I really like psychology and learning how the brain works, but above all, I believe that mental health is really important. That’s is why I want to become a psychotherapist.
I also like to learn about different cultures, which is why I am also studying Spanish. I believe that there is a lot within a language that we can learn about. I am fluent in English and Spanish, and now I am learning American Sign Language and Italian also. I want to learn as many languages as possible so I will be able to interact with as many people as possible, not only for in my career as a therapist but also as I learn more about different cultures as well.
When I learned about the possibility of going to study abroad, I got really excited about the idea. As I was looking through the requirements, I realized that it was not just a dream and I had a really good chance of actually going.
