Connecting Classrooms: An Interview with a Young Student in Valencia!

What jobs do your parents have?:

My parents work. My mother works in the port and my father works in Mercadona. Mercadona is a supermarket.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

We start at 8:00 in the morning. I get up at eight and classes start at 9:00 and go until 1:00p.m.. Then I go home and eat. 

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

Walking. I'm ten minutes from here, and a family member always accompanies me. My  iaio or  iaia come with me, and if not, my parents take me to school.

Note: "Iaio" and "iaia" means grandfather and grandmother in Valencian. 

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat my food at home. Some can stay in the cafeteria if their parents can't. In Spain, I snack a piece of fruit before la comida. When I eat comida, I like rice and paella. 

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

"Hello" is said as Hola, and I speak in Valencian, Spanish and English.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Well, some common ones are David, Antonio, Alexander... there are many. 

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I really like physical education. We study history, environmental science, mathematics, language, music, physical education and English. We learn many things.
