Nature News

But what it lacks in land animals, it makes up for in the sky and water. Birds are everywhere, soaring overhead as I walk to class.

The real superstars, though, are the beautiful white swans that glide through the city's canals and parks. Just this week, while I was on a run before sunset, I saw the most heartwarming scene: a sweet old couple, hand-in-hand, feeding an entire loaf of bread to a group of graceful swans. The sight was so peaceful and perfect, it actually made me stop in my tracks just to take it all in.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

This weekend, my best friend Kendall and I went on a real-life fairy tale adventure! We traveled north of the city to the Hermitage Hunting Lodge, a historic building nestled deep inside Rødløvene forest. And guess who lives there? Hundreds and hundreds of wild deer!

It was absolutely magical walking among the trees and open fields, surrounded by entire herds of deer running, sprinting, and strolling right past us. These weren't like the skinny deer back home in North Carolina; they were big, bulky stags that looked like ancient forest kings. We even spotted mystical-looking entirely white deer; I couldn't tell if they were albino or a special local breed!

With the sun finally shining down and the cool, crisp air around us, the whole moment was unbelievably peaceful and beautiful.

Other Nature News from this week:

I learned the coolest thing in class this week! The Danish Nature Agency has built 265 new outdoor shelters all across the country's natural areas. It's like a giant invitation for people to have a sleepover in the forest!
