Hello everyone!
Nama saya (My name is) Julia. I’m 23 years old, and I grew up in Coventry, Rhode Island. Back in the "Ocean State" I have two younger sisters, Anna and Grace, and two cats, Tofu and Damao (which means “big cat” in Chinese). After I graduated from high school, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia and studied creative writing and English at Emory University. I love reading, writing and storytelling. During college, I spent most of my free time working for my campus newspaper. I wrote stories, took photographs and edited articles about the community. In my free time, I explored Atlanta's many coffee shops and wandered around the city with my friends. After I graduated from college, I worked for six months at a media organization in New York City. One week after I left my job, I jumped on a 16-hour flight from New York to Hong Kong and began my journey to Malaysia.
After a short layover in Hong Kong, I took a 4-hour flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital. On the flight, I was extremely nervous about living abroad for the first time. I’ve always wanted to explore the world and to meet new people, but it was scary to leave my job in New York and try to create a home in a new country.
