El Gato del Río Sculpture Park

This week I visited an iconic spot in Cali: El Gato del Río (The River Cat). It's a park of cat sculptures. Yes, cats! Cats are a big theme in Cali. You can find cat art all throughout the city.

This is the original sculpture called El Gato del Río by Colombian artist Hernando Tejada
The original River Cat sculpture was installed on the bank of the Cali River in 1996
All of these other cats, like Kariyaku here, were designed by different artists
These cats colorful cats weren't added to the park until 2006!
