Making Mallersdorf Home

That is another way I get to help out and meet people.

Once I even ended up in the local paper! It’s kind of a funny story. You see, the library hosted a board game tournament. About 52 people showed up to play a game called “Mensch ärgere Dich nicht.” It’s sort of like the German version of “Sorry.” I played too, even though I had never heard of the game before. At the end of the tournament, we counted up all the points. The top three winners got a special prize. They had their picture taken in front of the library for the local newspaper.

Do you think I won the tournament? Nope! I came in dead last. I had the lowest points out of 52 people. Then someone explained to me that the loser also gets a special prize. Because I was the loser, I could take a picture in front of the library with the winners as a "consolation prize.” So that’s how I ended up in the paper. One man even recognized me as “the girl who lost the tournament” when he walked into the library!
