No one speaks Latin anymore, but I still thought it was fun to learn. Because I liked learning languages so much, I also decided to learn German. At first I was just taking German classes for fun, but then I fell in love with the language.
I decided to study for a semester in Germany so that I could speak German better and learn more about the country. I lived in a big city called Munich. In Munich I was able to see new, beautiful places and meet interesting people. Studying abroad for a semester had given me a taste of Germany, but I wanted to learn more. I wanted to understand the language and really know the culture, so I decided to go back after college.
I finished college in May. After that, I applied to the Fulbright program. The Fulbright program let me live in Germany for ten months and help teach German students English. This was perfect for me because I wanted to live in Germany and because I love helping people learn languages. I was accepted to the program and sent to the town of Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg.
I moved here in September and will move back home to New York in June. So far, I’ve settled into the town and met some very kind people. Mallersdorf is small, but don’t be fooled—there’s a lot you can learn here. I’m very excited to be able to share this journey with you all. See you soon!
