Greetings from Malaysia! My name is Katy, and I am writing to you from the lovely state of Terengganu. You may be wondering where in the world is Malaysia, and who is this Katy person? Let me see if I can clarify these two basics. Let's start with Malaysia.
Malaysia is an Asian country located on the South East China Sea. It is a beautiful country not far from the Equator, the earth’s belt that runs right about its center. The equator is the hottest part of the earth because it it is the part that stays near to the sun for the longest period. So as you may have already guessed, Malaysia is a very warm place. I(t's like summer year round!) I am very glad it is so nice and warm in Malaysia because I am usually very cold when I am wandering around my home town in New England.
I grew up in Rhode Island and always enjoyed hanging out with my friends, going to the beach and exploring the museums. For college, I traveled to Massachusetts to attend Wheaton College. While in college I fell in love with turtles and was so happy when, for my senior honors thesis, I got to study turtles, specifically, the Northern Diamondback Terrapin. (In case you're wondering, a terrapin is a type of turtle that lives in areas where fresh and salt water mix. Now you know!)
