Everyday Eating in Ireland

Introduction:

In my first couple weeks here, I wanted to try everything that I saw, everything looked so delicious! Here is a little bit about the foods I have tried so far and some that I am looking forward to trying over my next few months here!

What food did I try?:

Some foods that I tried were shepherd's pie and cottage pie, which are dishes that consist of meat and veggies mixed together with fluffy mashed potatoes on top. Another cool dish that I tried was an irish stew, which usually consists of potatoes, meat, veggies and thyme, all within a hot broth creating a soup-like consistency. The weather here is very cold and rainy, so people tend to eat a lot of warm dishes because of that. Both of these dishes are warm meals perfect for a cold day!

My favorite food that I have tried so far is called a sausage roll! It is an irish sausage wrapped in a fluffy, buttery pastry, and baked in the oven. They are so crispy and crumble when you take a bite. They are definitely one of the foods that I eat the most here!

Another very popular meal here is breakfast, and people love to enjoy a full irish breakfast, as they call it. This meal is made of many things for all to try. It can include irish soda bread, fried eggs, black and white pudding, and lots of sausages and rashers (bacon). This meal is perfect for a weekend morning when spending time with family!
