What tradition did I learn about?:

I learned about the importance of soccer games for local Catalonian people in Barcelona. When an important game is on, the whole city gets excited and feels like it stops for a while. Friends and families gather to watch, cheer and enjoy the game together. Soccer is not just about winning or losing -- it is a special time for people to have fun and feel close to one another.

Why does the community have this tradition?:

Watching games gives friends and families time to take a break from school, work and chores so they can enjoy something exciting as a group. When there is an important game in Barcelona, many people stop what they are doing to watch and cheer for their team. People also feel pride when their team wins.

Fun fact: During big soccer games, restaurants and cafés can get very full because so many people want to watch the game together!
