Germany's Springtime Flower

They are much more common in the wild in Southern Germany and Western Europe. You shouldn't pick them if someone else has planted them, but you can buy them at the supermarket!

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Daffodils grow in sunny parts of Greifswald, so they are most often found away from buildings. These flowers need to be watered regularily, which isn't usually a problem in Greifswald as the Spring is usually rainy. However, if the daffodils are planted near monuments, people who work for the city also help take care of them.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Daffodils are pretty lucky plants because they are actually poisonous, which means there are few living things that can harm them. However, without enough sun or warm temperatures at the beginning of Spring, daffodils will have trouble growing in the future. This could be the result of climate change or just colder Spring temperatures throughout Northern Germany. Whatever the reason, it looks like the daffodil definitely face some challenges!
